Being part of the nursery from Freshers (0-2 years), Sophomores (2-3 years) and Scholars (3-5 years) the children make friends, interact with each other and staff throughout their time with us. In no time at all you will learn the names of your children’s new friends and carers.

We love messy play, just look at our Facebook page to see all the daily activities the children get up to. Imaginations run wild from spacemen and dinosaurs to all the colours of the rainbow.

The Oxford Nursery Summertown boasts two lovely gardens, one grass surface and one sand, known as ‘The Beach’. We have an ‘access all areas’ philosophy and children may visit any of the rooms for activities and stories but they all have a dedicated base room relative to their ages, The Freshers for 0-2years, The Sophomores for 2-3 years and The Scholars for 3-5 years. ‘The Quod’ is a large base room where the children can play and join up for group story, singing and performance sessions. Each base room has facilities for sleep and meal times.

A digital platform for early educators and families to collaborate, share the workload, and nurture children together.

We have a dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable team of staff at both our sites.

Our son has been attending for six months now, and it has been such a wonderful experience. I was initially anxious about how his allergies would be managed, but the staff have been incredible—attentive, caring, and genuinely enthusiastic every single day. It’s clear they love what they do. Seeing him thrive through their creative weekly activities and cultural celebrations has been a joy. His progress is a direct reflection of their dedication, and we couldn't be happier.

We'd like to preface this review by stating that it is based on two points of comparison. The first is that we have had 7 years of experience with one of the best rated nurseries in Melbourne, Australia (which has a 3 year waiting list), which our son and older daughter attended - so when we relocated from Melbourne to Oxford, we had high standards. The second is that our son has also attended another nursery in Oxford (recently rated outstanding by Ofsted).

We have found Summertown Nursery to be outstanding. Having recently relocated to the UK, we felt as though we had joined a community and family and Summertown Nursery played a significant role in ensuring our son settled as smoothly as possible. We particularly valued the personalised approach, which led to the educators anticipating and responding to each child's needs on an individual basis and continually adapting their approach as needed. We found the educational program, communication and updates excellent, and we were impressed by our son's progress report written by his key teacher which was very precise despite only knowing him for 6 weeks. This is testament to the individualised approach of the Nursery. We also felt that there was an excellent balance between robust organisational policies and procedures, the educational program and day-to-day delivery of the program. Staff retention at Summertown Nursery is high and many staff have worked there for many years - we feel this speaks volumes about why there is such a community culture at the Nursery, especially in an industry challenged by workforce shortages.

Ofsted aside, we felt that Summertown Nursery trumped the other Oxford nursery in every possible way and is on par with our exceptional nursery in Melbourne, even exceeding some areas such as the individualised approach to each child's needs and goals and liaising closely with family on this. Summertown Nursery has exceeded our expectations in every way and given our high standards and benchmarks, we hope that this places our comments into perspective!

We visited The Oxford Nursery (Summertown) on the recommendation of a friend, and we couldn't be happier with this nursery. Our child has been going for about half a year now. The best thing about the nursery is that the staff really know each individual child. The staff are warm and caring and always go the extra mile: they are there for advice and to help, and are so responsive. Our child has grown to love nursery and gets to engage with a really exciting array of activities which support development, curiosity and learning. It is always exciting to see an update or a photo come through and we are so grateful to the staff for everything they do.

We viewed several nurseries before settling on here. All the staff looked happy and like they wanted to be there, they were welcoming and informed. The place was very tidy but not clinical. It looked like the kind of place we would feel comfortable leaving our daughter. Since joining our daughter has loved going to nursery, the staff take the time to speak to us on drop off and pick up. It is a very welcoming and friendly place. We would highly recommend.

Full or part time day care is offered

Full or part time day care is offered as well as after school care and Holiday care.

Regular gardening and growing all sorts of great vegetables are then harvested and cooked, often by our little chefs. We are certain we will have a Cordon Bleu chef someday. All of these experiences and learning journeys are captured throughout the day and parents/guardians receive daily updates.
