We’re keen on outdoor provision at The Oxford Nursery. Themed areas are created to facilitate meaningful, imaginative, creative, social and independent play/learning opportunities.
We know that children love to play and learn outside the most and we know that uninterrupted play is important to children. We are lucky to have access to grassed areas in nearby parks as well our own artificial surfaces and sand pits offering a variety of play areas. We avoid the ‘on/off of welly boots and all weather suits’ as much as possible . To create opportunity for this seamless play we have responded by providing outdoor/indoor play areas and classrooms so the children can be outside but when necessary can get out of the weather elements be they rain, snow or even intense sun. Our children have facilities to have snacks and meals outside as well as rest times.
We are proud of our outdoor classrooms and shelters and how well they compliment all the activities we do within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Investigating, exploring, imagining, persevering, creating, singing and dancing are just a few ways our children spend their garden time but always playing, questioning, learning and making friends and forming relationships.
